The Naked Lady Party was a collaboration between myself, upcoming events specialist Nicole Jensen, and Chakae, a good friend and veteran in events and fundraising. It was originally meant to be a fundraiser for my KaosPilots efforts, but when that fell apart we changed it into a fundraiser for Working Wonders. We invited people to come by with their unwanted clothes and swap them with others for free. We also had a few stalls, a makeup artist, and an auction. Based on our burlesque theme, we planned for a burlesque performer to be part of the party, but she fell ill at the last moment so we played music videos instead. It was good fun, and we made a good amount of money for Working Wonders. Read Nicole’s account of the event.
I have samples of my creative work in my portfolio folders but haven’t scanned them in yet. Coming soon!
I started this blog on New Years 2006 after being inspired by my Up with People trip. I knew that there was demand for information about alternative education in Malaysia, but not too many resources. The blog’s since grown into a key resource for Malaysian youth trying to find ways to explore their passions, learn about different things, or just have experiences outside the status quo. I would like to expand the site into a fully-fledged resource, with databases, links, and multiple contributors, and I’d also like to branch out into real-world services, such as a resource center, advice, roadshows, or publications.
This blog documented my attempt to get into the KaosPilots schools, particularly with regards to seeking funding. It was mostly personal and was a space for me to share my hopes, dreams, frustrations, and disappointments. I gave away a KaosPilot A-Z book through the blog, and managed to connect with plenty of other students this way.
This blog documented my Up with People (WorldSmart) tour in 2005, as well as my two-week work with the Premiere in April 2006. During my tour, very few in the crew had heard of blogging and I was one of 3 (out of 50) that kept a regular log. This blog became an impetus for EducateDeviate, and I kept it going during my trip to Denver for the Premiere. It’s deeply personal, but public as well; while it’s not extremely detailed, it does give an insight into the challenges and gifts that come with a world tour of amazing young people and strange circumstances.
I had known Asha since the [my demand] days of 2001 and we are very close friends. She approached me in 2003 to set up her official website, which acts both as a portfolio and as a way to get in touch with potential clients and fans. For a few years I maintained the site with blog entries (from Asha), media clippings, photos, and so on. I also actively sorted and responded to fanmail, often being the go-between for Asha and a potential client. Currently the site is in hiatus, as both of us are busy, but I still work on her fanmail pro bono and we’re working on getting a new version of the site up and running.
