April dreamboard! (feat. The Merch Girl and Gala Darling)

I made this on Friday night and then went to a friend’s birthday party over the weekend about 5 hours south from here (happy birthday Anna!!) so I’ve only just managed to post this now.

There’s quite a few metaphors happening here that reflect the dreams and wishes for this month.

Chain with hearts – when I made this I thought “strong, stable, love.” Now that I look at it against I also see links, connections, chaining together, boundaries.
Hand reaching out to sun in the sky – gifts, the Light, being bestowed with clarity and greatness
Magic shop – magic, miracles, prosperous business, mysteries, mental challenges
Stars – passion, magic, sparks, charm

The main image here is of stars and arrows pointing from Internet It-girl Gala Darling to The Merch Girl , my upcoming in-progress burlesque character/events & production assistance business. I often get a little envious of people like Gala who have some sort of charmed life – their blog and Twitter updates are often about some grand adventure they’ve been on, or someone they’ve met, or how they’ve just spent the day on a shopping spree before going to the club. When I read them I think “how do you even afford to do all that?” – I know that Gala gets a lot of revenue through ad income, but it still boggles my mind as to how much she can actually earn from it.

I figure that I do so much in so many worlds – arts, community, youth – that I’d like a chance at their charmed life too! Specifically, the ability to have interesting adventures and meet great people without having to worry about having enough money for it. Since part of The Merch Girl is to have those kind of experiences (and hopefully receive some compensation for them), I figure I can channel some of that charm from Gala!

Gala Darling doesn’t have to literally do anything for me, of course. It’s more a symbol of passing around the luck and magic that separates the hard-working but not getting anywhere from the charmed.
